Two Perspectives, One Standard
STELLAR+MONIQUE is led by co-founders and life partners Stella and Monica, whose complementary perspectives shape the house. The jewellery division officially launched in 2025 with Stella as the Managing Director overseeing operations and marketing direction, and Monica as the Creative Director, GAA Fellow gemologist and trained goldsmith, leading jewellery design, gemstone sourcing, manufacturing and craftsmanship directives.
Their appreciation for jewellery began in their twenties, shaped by a shared love of art and the natural beauty of gemstones. Regular visits to auction houses further developed their interest in jewellery, fashion and decorative arts. They later became NGV Foundation members through their support of Fashion and Textiles and Decorative Arts.
What began as a personal passion grew into a decade in the coloured gemstone trade and, ultimately, STELLAR+MONIQUE. Together, they combine business direction with gemological and jewellery making expertise under one shared standard.
Design Principle: Neo Art Deco
Our interpretation of Art Deco was never about looking backwards. When the movement emerged a century ago, it was a bold expression of modern life. Its geometry and architectural lines reflected an era transformed by modern cities, new technologies and women taking a more visible place in professional and public life.
That spirit matters to us more than reproducing its motifs. We retain the structure that gives Art Deco its strength—geometry, symmetry, order and proportion—then remove the excess. Lines become cleaner, layers lighter and details more restrained, allowing the jewellery to sit naturally within contemporary life.
Our Neo Art Deco is created for those whose day may move from meetings to dinner, travel to family, and moments entirely their own. The jewellery holds its presence with evening wear, yet feel equally at ease with tailored suits, knitwear or a simple shirt. To us, luxury is not jewellery that waits for an occasion; it is the freedom to reach for it on an ordinary Tuesday.
Gemstone Expert to Jeweller
Our relationship with gemstones began long before STELLAR+MONIQUE. Since 2015 we started trading natural gemstone to the Australian jewellery industry. This has allowed us to build an extensive collection of natural stones, while longstanding international industry relationships give us access to unusual and exceptional material when a design calls for it.
Each stone is considered for its colour, cut, proportion and individual character. Selected gemstones may be custom cut or faceted before Monica guides the piece through design, prototyping and production—refining how the stone is framed, how the setting supports it and how the finished piece will sit when worn.
